September 2012 Back to School Magic for ParentsSUVs with "SENIORS RULE" and "SENIORS – BOW DOWN" painted on their rear windows, speed past my house each weekday morning. Dog walkers jump to avoid harried soccer moms who race through the stop sign at the roundabout. Car exhaust chokes the air. School is back in session. One week in, and already emails asking for English tutoring fill my inbox. For working parents, the high wire act has returned. They struggle to find afterschool transportation for their children, and enough energy to help them with homework. The students have their own pressures: new teachers, classes, and schedules to navigate. Breathe. Buy a black candle and white candle of equal size. Light the black candle and envision all your fears and worries for the school year being absorbed into the candle. Light the white candle. Visualize harmony and ease. Imagine your child connecting with the teachers, classes, and mentors that are in your child's highest good. Envision the light of the white candle reaching out into the Universe, enabling your wishes to come true. End each day in gratitude for the blessings you attracted. Back to School Magic for StudentsEach fall brings a fresh start, a new beginning. Remember, "Where attention goes, power flows." If I told you, "Think of anything but a pink elephant," then all you'd be able to think about is – a pink elephant! Make the power of attraction work for you. Imagine what you'd like to accomplish this school year. Play that movie inside your head, not the movie filled with worry or self-doubt. Walk taller. Prepare to the best of your ability. Ask for help when you need it. You can so totally do this! In my teen novel, Spell Check, the heroine, Evie, carries an orange topaz for courage as she struggles with bullies and math anxiety. If you'd like to try stone magic, carry or put into your backpack or locker any of the following: Amethyst: for healing, self-confidence, reducing anger, and easing depression and stress. Citrine: for inspiration, ideas, creativity, and emotional balance. Fluorite: aids in studying, focusing, and retaining knowledge. Hematite: to stay grounded and to increase courage. Clear Quartz: can be empowered to boost any purpose needed. Here's a spell to say each school morning as you look in the mirror: Do Well Spell for Back to School |
