Scorpio Full Moon 2015

The Scorpio Full Moon, known as the Flower Moon, debuts Sunday, May 3rd at 11:42 pm, Eastern Standard Time. Because of the fixed square to Jupiter, the Flower Moon may be a time of great opportunity and good luck. But use caution. Risk taking can yield tremendous gains or horrendous losses. Given the recent earthquake in Nepal, the Flower Moon is also a good time to honor Buddha’s birth (623 B.C.) in Lumbini, in the Terai plains of Nepal. Place flowers on your personal altar as an offering to Buddha, and send healing thoughts to the people of Nepal.

May Magic

  • Celebrate May Day/Beltane

Dress up as the May Queen, Stag Lord, or the Green Man and dance the Maypole on May 1st. Beltane is a Celtic fire festival named after Bel, the Welsh Sky God and tan, meaning sky. Beltane celebrates the marriage of the God and Goddess, and invokes the spirit of summer, as the days grow longer.

  • Surprise someone with a May Basket of flowers or a floral wreath.

  • Candle Magic for Peace, Harmony, and Healing

You can set an intention for personal peace, harmony, and healing, or direct this magic outward to communities devastated by earthquakes or unrest. Speak or think your intention while you gather the following:

    1. A pale blue candle, or a white candle if pale blue is not available.
    2. Enough olive oil to coat the candle.
    3. Fresh or dried gardenia and/or lavender blossoms, and/or vervain (any part of the plant, fresh or dried, or the oil from the plant).
    4. If using dried plant material, grind or crumble it before adding it to the olive oil. If using fresh blossom, pluck apart the flowers and add the petals.
    5. Once the oil and flowers have been combined, scoop up some of the mixture with your fingers and coat the candle. While saying aloud your intention, work from the top of the candle to the middle, then from the bottom of the candle up to the middle. Continue to repeat your intention as you dress the candle.
    6. Burn the candle completely. Do not leave the candle leave unattended. If need be, smother the flame (do not blow it out) and burn over three days.

May all your days be magical!
