May 2014 Five Magical Ways to Celebrate May1. BeltaneDance the Maypole on Beltane, May 1st. 2. TaurusCelebrate friends and family who were born under the sign of Taurus the Bull (April 21-May 21). Taurean people are solid, steady, and good at problem solving. Just being around them will help you stay grounded. Give them a rose quartz to remind them to love and care for themselves. “Taurus is as patient as time itself, as deep as the forest, with a dependable strength that can move mountains. But he’s stubborn.” ~Linda Goodman, Sun Signs 3. Mother’s Day MagicHonor your maternal lineage and Mother’s Day (May 11) by creating a personal altar devoted to Mother Earth, Mother Goddesses (Demeter, Isis, Yemaya, Bona Dea, Mary, Gaia, Frigga, and Cybele), and/or your own mother and grandmothers. Include stones, crystals, flowers, wheat, photos, and mementos that represent motherhood, fertility, abundance, and Mother Earth. Place a bowl of salt on the altar and envision the salt clearing and purifying any mother or grandmother discord. Then project the healing energy outward to heal the earth itself. 4. Milk Moon MagicMay’s Full Moon arrives on May 14, 3:16 pm Eastern Daylight Time. It is known as the Milk Moon —a time when livestock were moved to better pastures, resulting in higher quality milk — and the Full Flower Moon — a time when flowers are abundant in most areas. Both names symbolize abundance and fertility. This Scorpio Full Moon is a good time to complete projects. Leading up to the Full Moon is also a good time to do magic concerning love and/or money because Venus and Uranus meet-up on May 15. Watch the Mists of AvalonIf for no other reason (and there are plenty of other reasons) than to see Director Uli Edel’s depiction of Beltane. Have a magical May! |
